Gordon
River, Port Renfrew, Vancouver Island

The Gordon River
flows southwards into Port San Juan north of Port Renfrew on the southwest
coast of Vancouver Island.
Access to the
Gordon River is good from the Gordon River Main logging road that
parallels the river for most of its route.
The Gordon
is a small, fast-flowing stream with coho runs in the fall and a
summer steelhead run in June and early July.
Winter steelhead
also run in February and March. Cutthroat are caught near the mouth
of the Gordon River.
Fishing is
invariably good for the few days after a rainfall.

Info: Camping facilities are available at the Fairy Lake Recreation
Site. The popular campground is an open RV-friendly campground,
with a beautiful sandy beach. It has a tendency to flood in heavy
rain, but is normally high and dry during the popular summer months.
Camping is also available at Lizard Lake Recreation Site. The treed
28-site campground is seperated from the day-use area, and there
is a smaller, separate walk-in area with 4 tent pads. The Pacheedaht
First Nations also operates a popular campground on the shores of
San Juan Beach in Port Renfrew.
