The White River flows into the Salmon River near Highway 19, south of Sayward on the east coast of Vancouver Island.

The White River offers a good run of summer steelhead during June and July, with limited winter steelhead in February and March. Dolly Varden, cutthroat and rainbow trout are found in the White Rriver, with runs of coho salmon in the fall.

Nearest Park: White River Provincial Park, Schoen Lake Provincial Park

Additional Info: Visit the Salmon Spawning Pool on the upper reaches of the White River, off the Stewart Main logging road. A campsite is located on Elk Creek at the Elk Creek Recreation Site near the highway. Camping is also available at Schoen Lake Provincial Park.
