Chemainus River Provincial Park protects second-growth forest along the Chemainus River, northwest of Duncan on Vancouver Island.
The Chemainus River provides excellent swimming and recreational opportunities and also hosts Coho Salmon runs, a small steelhead run in April to June, and a summer steelhead run.
A recent addition of significant river frontage to the existing park has increased the overall park size to 128 hectares, thereby increasing the area available for trails and recreation and reducing the weekend congestion during summer months.
Chemainus River Provincial Park is a popular destination for anglers. All anglers should check the current regulations issued by Fisheries and Oceans Canada prior to fishing. Anyone fishing in British Columbia must have an appropriate licence.
No facilities are provided in Chemainus River Provincial Park.
Chemainus River Provincial Park is located northwest of Duncan on the south island. Access to the park is on the Hillcrest Payne logging road, off the Cowichan Valley Highway 18, 4 miles (6 km) west of Highway 1.
